I was one of several people listed as addressees. I sent a PM to the others pointing out that it was sent by someone with 0 posts and was unknown to me. I urged them not to click on the link and then came here to post about it but was happy to see that others beat me to it.

I took care of this person and banned them and the ip they had used to sign up since this same ip was used by a spammer some months ago.

The Internet Security 2010 trojan is a fairly difficult one to get rid of...so like many have said, do NOT click on the link provided in that pm.

Good catch Rick much appreciated. I received the following,

Quote:
Dear, EliteFranceska;Tribun;jinnia;greek39;heiftedge!

Spam sending from your computer was detected.
We highly recommend you to check your computer and perform online virus check at our site immediately link delete
If you do not pass this test* we will have to delete your account and forward a complaint to your ISP with attached log file (your IP address, etc.).
Good advice DO NOT Click the link.

I will be clicking this on my smart ass P.C and returning it sender if possible.

Not sure if this list will be useful for others but these are various user names to look out for.

Where did you get that list Greek?

Are they just a collection of users who have spammed you various stuff in pm's or is that from that forum spammer site that lists scumbag spammers details?

I got the list from public boards who are facing the same problems. I have only received two spam PM's in my GIA account one from Lady_Admin and CarlosDevil.

I manage pretty good tracking down Lady_Admin and believe all these bogus spammers are of the same indentity.

Not sure if this list will overlap the first but again viewed from public broads. Some board admins are reporting having admin control issues. I looked no further but it might be worthwhile giving your backend a close look.

Also if some members have their CP auto forward the link will end up in their inbox. Not sure if a simply delete from inbox is effective. Chances are it would be but you can never be sure.

I can confirm this is what you get by hitting the link.

Quote:
A typical rogue program such as Internet Security 2010 can be acquired from a fake computer security websites, fake multimedia codec and by downloading an infected executable files from an unknown source. If the downloaded program was installed, Internet Security 2010 will also be run on the background unknown to user. With this method, it will be hard for any security programs to detect that a malware is being executed. To be able to remove Internet Security 2010, we have included a procedure below.

I have seen this very same trojan on many computers and I am usually effective at getting rid of it, but it is quite a bit of work....

Thanks for the heads up Peter....
